The company is just celebrating its 50th Anniversary as a family-run business!

Supporting local charities:

Music in West Kilbride

Music in West Kilbride was formed in 1986 (as West Kilbride Music Club)

with the aim of providing professional concerts in North Ayrshire of the same high quality as those in Glasgow.

MiWK also encourages musical understanding and development, with many performers who visit for concerts also running musical workshops in local schools.

Appreciating the support of others:

St Bride's Roman Catholic Church, West Kibride

West Kilbride Parish extends more or less half way to Ardrossan, half way to Dalry and part of the way to Largs, taking in part of Fairlie and also the Cumbraes. The church is named after St. Bride, Kilbride meaning cell or church of Bride. Legend has it that St. Bride landed on the shore near West Kilbride in 500 A.D. and established a church.

The current parish priest is Father Joe Boland who took up his position at St Bride's in October 2009.

Learning from local crafters:

Tom McEwan, Bookbinder

Timberbooks is delighted to introduce you to Tom McEwan.  Tom is an award-winning design bookbinder based in the west of Scotland.

A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Tom draws on his Fine Art background to create beautifully bold designs which, along with a high level of technical expertise, combine to produce fine bindings of exceptional quality in his own distinctive style.

As well as working on commissioned and competition design bindings, Tom produces a range of bookbinding finishing tools and holds workshops at his bindery in Irvine, Scotland and other venues throughout the UK.

Tom was elected Fellow of Designer Bookbinders in 2014.
